MashUp Show Rebirth – March 2012

For seven years I did with friends an (almost) weekly radioshow dedicated to Caribbean music, mostly Soca, Calypso, Bouyon, Zouk, Cadence, Kompa, Reggaeton and other stuff: The MashUp Show. With the year 2009 this series came to an and, stated in the a 7h long finale show in January 2010.

Although the spirit of the MashUp Show never died and lived on in the successor show Riddims Tropicale. Attracting a much wider audience with all kinds of global bass and tropical club music it has been the Soca shows who got the most downloads by far – the February 2012 Carnival edition got over 17k downloads and streams!
This huge success and the fact, that a decent Soca Carnival mix is best for my workouts and running sessions, plus all the long-time lovers of the show made me think about bringing the MashUp Show back to the living. So no long talk, here it is:

MashUp Show – 2012-03 The rebirth.
Very special guest: no other than the infamous DJ Tate (London, UK).

The MashUp Show will not run weekly this time – not sure yet but I guess there will be round 8-10 shows per year. Another thing will be different: there won’t be the strong focus on new tunes like the old shows, we just let it flow. All islands all seasons all styles.

Panorama 2012 Soca Mix

45min mix of 2012 Steel Pan Soca tunes – you will hear interpretations of these tunes tonight at Panorama steel band competition in Port of Spain, Trinidad. Time to get used to the songs if you want to have a chance to recognise them at Panorama.

Also added the wining tune of 2011 – “It’s showtime” by Anselm Douglas (played by Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars) and a classic by Kitchener himself.

Caution: these tunes are rich in melody, constantly changing harmonies and crazy arrangement.
